Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille views its restaurant packaging as an important first impression or final send-off with tasty leftovers. But, their previous restaurant packaging was misaligned with their brand’s identity.
So, the challenge was to create a packaging program in which each element provided functionality and consistent branding throughout their chain of restaurants.
Color matching became challenging across various substrates and products, such as paper carry-out bags and cardboard catering boxes.
The Pantone color that was chosen for the new packaging needed to match Perry’s marketing materials. The problem was that the Pantone was a gray color that translated differently to kraft paper bags and corrugated boxes than to menus, flyers, and ads.
The color of packaging plays a pivotal role in brand recognition, especially for a luxurious restaurant like Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille needed to diversify their to-go containers with three distinct bag sizes to accommodate the various sizes of their takeout offerings. They required a small size for single containers, a medium size for a single take-out dinner, and a large size for dinner orders for three to four people.
Once Perry’s got all three bag sizes to correspond with their to-go container sizes, the next challenge was to determine quantity allocation per size.
CRP was brought on board to improve all aspects of packaging, from the ordering process to customer service. CRP knew how to navigate the entire process of figuring out each packaging item’s correct construction, sizing, and graphics. After completing only one project, Perry’s chose us as their new strategic packaging partner because of our attention to detail in every aspect of the packaging program.

CRP worked with Perry’s founder to bring his vision to life for a high-end box for pork chop sliders. With an option to purchase 6 or 12 sliders, we developed a solution allowing modularity and ease of transport using a handled belly band.
Implementing grease-resistant paper preserves the slider’s integrity and maintains the presentation befitting of a premium steakhouse. This attention to detail reinforces Perry’s commitment to quality and enhances its reputation among its customers.
With CRP’s guidance, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille transitioned from a factory that could not meet its needs to a factory that provided customization and some new alternatives. They used paper twist handles but decided to test out flat paper handles. Additionally, they were interested in updating their bag design to a flood coat of their signature color.
Sizing was a challenge since all bags had to fit existing to-go containers so Perry’s could continue operations as usual. CRP and the new factory provided many samples for testing out sizes before placing an order to make sure all of Perry’s size needs were met.
Our art department helped achieve color consistency across all packaging items through Pantone color selection and collaboration with Perry’s designers.
In response to the pandemic’s dining restrictions, printed catering boxes became Perry’s answer for takeout orders and special events. A corrugated pad was a thoughtful addition to separate temperature-sensitive dishes, preserving the integrity of hot and cold items.
This packaging solution maintains Perry’s high-quality food experience and streamlines their delivery operations, satisfying customers despite the changing dynamics in the catering experience.
Recognizing the significance of first impressions, CRP transformed Perry’s gift card holder into a tangible representation of the steakhouse’s premium dining experience.
One directive from the client was to ensure three gift cards fit into the opening. The soft-touch coating offers the tactile feel of luxury, while the gold hot-stamped logo subtly conveys opulence. This tasteful presentation introduces customers to Perry’s passion for perfection even before dining.
