Lighting the Path to Children’s Health

LIGHTING THE PATH TO CHILDREN’S HEALTH

On Friday, November 6, 2015, Seattle’s Benaroya Hall will host one of the most awe-inspiring, emotionally charged events the city has seen. Grammy-award winning composer Mateo Messina and his group of volunteers will give the 18th annual benefit concert on behalf of LUMA – a non-profit on a mission to light the path to children’s health. As passionate supporters of their cause, CRP is pleased to be this year’s title sponsor, joining the ranks of previous sponsors such as Delta Airlines, King 5 News, Kells Irish Pub and Georgetown Brewing Company. Previously known as The Symphony Guild, LUMA is an 18-year-old organization that raises money through musical performances to support uncompensated care and pediatric cancer research at Seattle Children’s Hospital. This year, the concert will also provide funding for the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research. To date, LUMA has raised approx. $2 million of their $5 million goal, almost all of which was raised through their annual benefit concerts which feature magical musical scores and interactive performances composed and produced by Mateo Messina. From pairing the symphony with baristas and Pike Place fishmongers to taking the audience on heroic adventures, each of their events is a memorable experience. While this year’s special guests have yet to be announced, past shows have included such artists as Heart, Alice in Chains, Imogen Heap, Five for Fighting, along with Seattle Children’s patients themselves.

Our team was honored to donate branding and design services to help LUMA better communicate their mission, which is quickly gaining traction along with their ambitions to grow as an organization. We began by addressing the name Symphony Guild, which underrepresented the organization’s impact on children’s health in the Seattle area. So much more than just a symphony, we wanted to emphasize what Mateo and his volunteers truly represent: a limitless movement that embodies the light of hope and sparks wondrous acts of humanity.

Through a series of workshops and creative meetings, CRP partnered with The Symphony Guild to address the non-profit’s pain points and develop a strong brand identity. We worked hand-in-hand with their key stakeholders to tap into the core essence of the brand, which guided us to the new name LUMA – representing knowledge, hope, promise and the idea that light conquers all darkness. Our team further strengthened the brand by developing a new logo and visual identity system. We then designed and developed a new website and content, with the help of Ravenna Interactive and designed marketing collateral that reflects the organization’s transformative impact on the community and inspires others to support their cause.

We invite you to learn more about LUMA and this year’s concert by visitingwww.lumaguild.org. And if you’re up for a transformative experience, please join us Friday, November 6th at Benaroya Hall – it is sure to be a night to remember!
